Please note: Strict interpretation of the rules will require that the scientists attending the meeting get a Business Visa, which requires a passport, letter of invitation (see our web site), hotel reservation (you'll get this in June from the conference hotel), and a round trip airline ticket. We recently spoke with a representative of the Houston Chinese Embassy and was assured that they were quickly processing visa applications, and offer a same-day service if you pay for it. The visa application must be delivered in person or by some agent (cannot be mailed) and paid for with cash or by money order.

Arrival in Chengdu
Plan to arrive in Chengdu on Sept. 17 or earlier. We will provide transportation from Chengdu to the meeting hotel the morning of Sept. 18, with a stop along the way at Leshan to see the giant Buddha and have a "hot pot" lunch.
We will inform you soon of the hotel in Chengdu from which the busses will depart.

Meeting Hotel Information
The meeting will be held at the Hong Zhu Shan Hotel in Emeishan City, Sichuan Provence. The 5-star hotel is located 2 hours south of Chengdu at the base of Emei Mountain, a World Culture & natural heritage site. It is a new conference hotel , located on a large, wooded, secluded property that provides an exceptional atmosphere for our type of meeting.

Attire and Weather Information

ATTIRE: Casual throughout the meeting, although those who wish to "dress up" for the Gala Dinner are welcome to do so, but this is not mandatory. Please bring APPROPRIATE CLOTHING for the climate.
